The short version
Venue Hi-Fi Player is a static web app for venues. There is no account system, no server-side database and no tracking: no cookies, no analytics, no fingerprinting. Your settings, presets, genre choice, imported AutoEQ profiles and your local music library index stay on this device in the browser's own storage.
What is stored on this device
hfb2.settings.v1— theme, volume, FX order, AutoEQ selection and imported profiles, spatial settings.hfb2.presets.v1— your venue preset slots (stations, Jamendo tracks, local files).hfb2.local.v1— IndexedDB store holding any local audio files you drag in, so the playlist survives a reload.- A service-worker cache of the app's own files.
Deleting site data (or the files in the playlist) removes all of it. Nothing is synced to a server.
What leaves your device
- The stream you choose — a royalty-free radio stream, a Jamendo track, or your own local file (which never leaves the device).
- Station search — queries go to the public radio-browser.info directory.
- Jamendo — when configured, track/radio lookups go to the Jamendo API with the venue's own client ID.
- Now-playing metadata — read from the stream itself and, for some broadcasters, their public metadata APIs.
- Album art — optional lookups at MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive.
- CORS proxies (optional) — if a stream blocks direct browser access it may be relayed through a third-party proxy that can see the URL.
- Anonymous advertising — A-ads frames: cookie-free and not targeted at individuals.
Venue staff and guests
The app does not identify listeners and collects nothing about your guests — no Wi-Fi analytics, no device fingerprinting, no listening statistics. If you play music for guests, the legal question is about licensing, not privacy: see terms & disclaimers.
Legal basis and your rights (GDPR)
We process no personal data ourselves. Any server logs at our host (Codeberg, Berlin, EU) are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in operating the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object, request access or complain to your supervisory authority; clearing site data is the fastest way to erase everything.
Collecting societies
This player is intended for royalty-free music (Jamendo licensing and comparable royalty-free sources). Venues that play only royalty-free music are generally not required to pay fees to collecting societies such as Buma/Stemra, Sabam/PlayRight or GEMA for this music. This is not legal advice — always verify with your local collecting society or legal advisor.
